UPDATE: thhhhhbbbbbbppppppt.
In the spirit of being more positive, I've decided to start a new list. This one will feature the Cardinals that have put forth outstanding effort, contributed spectacular defensive plays and clutch hits, and just generally made the game more fun to watch. I have a slight bias towards defense, so the list might be skewed that direction, but I promise to try and include all the offensive gems as well.
Game 1 [L 1-2] [record 0-1] [RBI-Molina(1)]
ΦYadier Molina hit the first Cardinals HR of the season. It was the only Cardinals run in the loss to the Rockies.
ΦBrian Barton got his first big league hit.
ΦKyle McClellan pitched a shut-out inning.
Game 2 [W 8-3] [record 1-1] [RBI-Ankiel(1), Ludwick(3), Washington(1), Pujols(1), Glaus(1), Kennedy(1)]
ΦMolina threw out the runner trying to steal 2B. (Someday the Gold Glove voters will recognize Yadi's talent.)
ΦRico Washington got his first big league hit.
ΦRick Ankiel made an amazing diving catch in center. Earlier in the game he threw a bullet into 3B to hold the runner at 2B.
Game 3 [W 3-0] [record 2-1] [RBI-Glaus(1), Ankiel(1), Thompson(1)]
ΦBrad Thompson picked off the runner at 1B. The runner had made it to 1B on an error.
ΦSkip Schumaker made a huge throw from left to Jason LaRue who tagged out the runner at the plate, saving a run.
ΦAnthony Reyes pitched in relief and struck out all three batters he faced.
Game 4 [W 5-4] [record 3-1] [RBI-Ankiel(2), Miles(1), Molina(1), Looper(1)]
ΦAnkiel hit a 2-Run HR to start off the scoring. It was his second HR of the season.
Game 5 [W 5-4] [record 4-1] [RBI-Izturis(1), Wainwright(1), Molina(2)]
ΦAdam Kennedy made a phenomenal (jaw-dropping) diving grab and flip to 2B for the force out. Wainwright said this about the play: "That was full extension, Superman dive, snow-cone, turn around and flip it to second."
ΦAdam Wainwright pitched 8 innings and only gave up 2 Runs.
Game 6 [W 3-0] [record 5-1] [RBI-Ankiel(2), Molina(1)]
ΦMolina picked off the runner at 1B.
ΦTroy Glaus made an awesome grab behind 3B and tossed to 2B to start the DP.
ΦAnkiel contributed 2 RBI along with an outstanding running/stretching/backwards catch at the track.
Game 7 [L 3-5] [record 5-2] [RBI-Glaus(1), Ludwick(2)]
ΦGlaus turned a Houston sac bunt into a DP. Started the Cardinals scoring in the 9th with an RBI single, and scored on the Ludwick double by crashing into the catcher at the plate.
ΦMolina picked off the runner at 1B.
